INTERMEDIATE FLY TYING CLASS - FLIES FOR SMALLMOUTH BASS
with NH Guide Dave Kolesar

Saturday - February 22nd, 2025 - 11:00am to 4:00pm

OVERVIEW: Smallmouth bass are becoming more popular as a target species for fly anglers. Smallmouth are aggressive fish that will readily take flies. They can be found in virtually all the streams and lakes of NH and New England making them more widespread than trout. Bass will actively feed throughout the warm summer weather when it's hard or impossible to find trout. This class will focus on tying productive flies designed for smallmouth bass. We'll use a variety of materials and techniques to tie some flies that will cover the water column from the surface to the bottom. At the end of the session tyers will have a nice assortment of flies for pursuing these feisty fish.

GOAL: Participants will be able to tie a selection of effective flies for smallmouth bass. They will also gain experience in various fly tying techniques, selecting and handling materials to tie effective patterns.

PREREQUISITES: Students must be 14 years old or older. An intermediate level of fly-tying experience and skill is required for this class. Please bring your personal vice and tools if desired, though a vice and tools can be furnished with advance notice. All materials required to tie the hosted flies in class will be provided.

CLASS SIZE: 10 MAX
