INTERMEDIATE FLY TYING CLASS - THE NEW ENGLAND TROUT FLY BOX with NH Guide Dave Kolesar
Saturday - February 15th, 2025 - 11:00am to 4:00pm
OVERVIEW: When most anglers think of fly fishing they, think of fishing for trout. With their cautious nature and sometimes finicky feeding habits; trout can be a frustrating species to target at times. During this class we will learn to tie some proven trout flies that, as a guide, Dave relies on throughout the trout season in New England. We'll work on fish catching fly patterns that represent dry flies, streamers, and nymphs and the tying techniques required to tie these flies. At the end of this session participants will have an understanding of what flies to use for trout, how to tie them, and how and when to fish them. These flies will also work on landlocked salmon.
GOAL: Participants will be able to tie a selection of effective flies for trout. They will also gain experience in various fly tying techniques, selecting and handling materials to tie effective patterns and how to present these patterns to the fish. The class will concentrate on flies used by NH guides for fooling trout.
PREREQUISITES: Students must be 14 years old or older. An intermediate level of fly-tying experience and skill is required for this class. Please bring your personal vice and tools if desired, though a vice and tools can be furnished with advance notice. All materials required to tie the hosted flies in class will be provided.
