INTERMEDIATE SALTWATER FLY TYING CLASS - UV RESIN (EPOXY) BAITFISH FLIES with Joe Calcaveccia

OVERVIEW: Join us as we host renowned local fly tier Joe Calcaveccia from Saltwater Custom Flies as he leads, demonstrates, and instructs how to craft epoxy surf candy style baitfish patterns using modern UV curing resins like Solarez. While these patterns have proven particularly deadly along the northeast seacoast for Striped Bass, Bluefish, False Albacore and Bonito; the techniques learned in this class are directly applicable to freshwater fly tying as well.
GOAL: At the end of this class, participants should be able to identify the materials required, and perform the sequential steps necessary to tie a variety of epoxy style surf candy baitfish imitations using UV curing resin systems.
PREREQUISITES: Some basic fly-tying experience and skill is required. Please bring your personal vice and tools if desired, though a vice and tools can be provided with advance notice. All materials required to tie the flies hosted in class will be furnished.

About The Instructor Joe Calcavecchia is a production tier, a saltwater master fly tier, and the creator of many well-renowned fly patterns such as the Striper Dragon, Mojo Squid, and the Bonita Bear. He has been tying commercially for the past thirty years for fly shops in the New England region. He is also a fly designer for Pacific Fly Group, on the Solarez Pro Team, a Pro Staff member of Ewing Feathers, and on the Regal Vise Pro Staff as well. He is a master teacher in fly tying and instructs students with a jovial manner that is always infectious to everyone in attendance. Joe takes part in many fishing expos where he is able to talk and engage with visitors and showcase his style of tying.
